How to Transform a Color Photo into Pencil Sketch

In this tutorial I will show you techniques to quickly and easily how to transform a color photo into a pencil sketch. Let's follow this step by step tutorial!

Step 1

Open a photo in Photoshop I used the photo of my favorite movie actor Mark Wahlberg you can use your own favorite photo.

Step 2

Press Ctrl + J to copy the photos click the Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer and select Black and White.

Step 3

Activate layer 1 and change the Blend mode to Color dodge.

Step 4

Go to the menu Image -> Adjustments -> Invert (Ctrl + I) this step will make the picture be white. Then select the menu Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.

Step 5

Click the Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer and select Levels.

Step 6

To sharpen the black you can use the Brush Tool and set it as shown below.
